Online Measurement of Coated Weight with the IR Moisture Sensor.

In this paper, the online coated weight measurement with IR moisture sensor is described. On the coater, oven-dry coating Weight can be calculated from moisture measurement just after coating and concentration of coating color. The online coated weight measuring system of this technology was developed and applied to coater in the mill. Feature of this technology and experiment data are provided. Results showed that this new system can provided measuring data with smaller variation than conventional beta gauge system, and is promising.
