A revised compensation method in time-frequency-space domain

Zhou Xing, Dawei Li, Kai Ming Yang · 2011

The relative absorption compensation is a method to eliminate the differences of absorption characteristics in large scale among shot records in time-frequency-space domain-. Based on the predecessor's work, this paper presents a revised method on the processing of the model shot. Firstly, the model shot has to be chosen at the near well region. It should have relatively superior quality in signal/noise ratio (SNR) with wider spectral bandwidth. Then velocity and attenuation parameters can be extracted by logging data and VSP data. Secondly, the equation is used to compensate the attenuation of the model shot along relevant ray paths. Thirdly, fter analysis of the attenuation characteristics of the model shot and all other shot gathers in wavelet domain, the attenuation trend of non-model shots have been adjusted to the attenuation trend of model shot in time-frequency-space domain. Through the method introduced above, both the preservation of relative relationship of amplitude, frequency, waveform and correction of AVO characteristics can be achieved.
