油 化 学 Solubilization power Of noniOnics of a rtew type(ROCH2)2CHO(C2H40)nH(1)[as for their preparations, see T.Kuwamura, Kogyo Kagaku Zasshi, 64,1958,1965(1961)]and a common type R'Q (C2H4O)nH(II)with various contents Of ethylene oxide (R:C5, C8, Cg, Clo, C捻aα ・Naphthyl;R':㍑ 一 C12,n-C16), and their effects on the disperse dyeing of acetate rayon were examined useing 1,4diaminoanthraquinone(III)as solubilizate or dye.As to the solubilization power(S)per mole of surfactant, I or II containing the higher alkyl and the longer polyOxyethylene(POE)chains were the better solubilizer, and I containing n-C8n-C12 alkyl chains way somewhat better than those Of II with the same contents of ethylene oxide as I.As compared with the solubiliZed amount(S/n)per oxyethylene unit, however, II gave high value rather than I. Also, it was found that in both type of nonionics, the S'/n value does not increase always with increase in the length of R or PC}E chain. These results were discussed from the view of the micelle forming ability, the micelle structure of each surfactant and Kuroiwa's proposal[Kogyo Kagaku Zasshi,6$,2148(1965)]that anthraquinone dyes polysubstituted by polar, groups as III are solubilized almost into the PEE region of the micelle.
