Software Integration Aspects in a Multi-Disciplinary Research Project on Underground Engineering

Karlheinz Lehner, Ingo Mittrup, K. Oberste-Ufer, D. Hartmann · 2007

The paper presented reports on the development of a distributed simulation and optimization platform for underground engineering. The platform integrates individual software applications from all fields of underground engineering to support engineers in the design of underground constructions. This paper addresses two aspects of software integration that are considered to be crucial for the development of the platform: The definition of a workable product data model that provides a basis for the data exchange and the loose coupling of individual software applications by utilizing a service-oriented architecture.
