Direct inversion of the diffraction patterns of low-energy Kikuchi electrons named Kikuchi electron holography, using integral-energy phase-summing method [1], is found to yield the threedimensional Patterson function of the near-su!i'ace structure. The results on theAg(lOO), Ag(lll), Si(OOl) (2xl), and Si(lll) ~3x•h R30°-Au smfaces will be present High-fidelity, m1ifact-free threedimensional images of nearby atoms measured fro1:!1 the emitters on surfaces are obtained with a high-resolution (~!A) in all direction [2].These works have demonstrated high surface sensitivity of Kikuchi electrons and thus led to direct smface structural determination by inverting Kikuchi electron pattems. Finally, the fu-_ ture of this new surface technique will be discussed.
