ALondoner sits casually at the terrace of a cafe in Hong Kong. His mobile phone keeps him in touch with friends and colleagues back home. Before his important sales presentation that afternoon, he scans the data he carries with him in his portable computer. Then, he modifies his graphics to incorporate new information he just obtained. These days, work or communication can take place virtually anywhere at any time. Some find this stressful and others, reassuring. But there is no longer a need to remain at home or in the office to work and stay in touch with others.
