Tools for system level design [FPGA design]
Mark Dickinson · 2005
This paper discusses FPGA's unique value proposition and the cost optimization problem. Two real world system-level tool examples are given: wireless modem IF processing and automotive infotainment system. System design tools are key enablers for low-cost implementation. FPGAs place specific requirements on system design tools, centering on efficient resource (re-)utilization and these problems are not solved by ASIC tools. EDA and silicon vendors recognise the challenge. (10 pages)
