Design of Real-time Leakage Detection System for Landfills

High Density Polyethylene material is widely used as geomembrane liners in landfills. During installation and operation, various factors can damage the liners. The electrical method can effectively detect and locate leaks in the liner. In this paper, we designed a real-time landfill leakage detection system based on the electrical method, which can detect the liners when landfills are in service. The hardware and software was introduced. Now, the system has been applied to actual landfills. Experiments in filed verified the effectiveness of this system.
