Model and a New Numerical Method Based on the Problem of Lumber Moisture Content Detection

Cui Xia Guo · Journal of Information and Computational Science · 2014

In this paper, a new model was presented for measuring the wood Moisture Content (MC) by a plane capacitance sensor. It was founded under the non-uniform and asymmetric condition. It could establish the relationship between the dielectric constant () and the capacitance value (C) of planar capacitance sensor. In this way, with the aid of the corresponding relationship between and MC, the distribution situation of MC could be obtained by measuring C. Compared with previous methods, it not only could greatly cut down measuring work, but also avoided the waste of media resources, such as wood. At the same time, according to the practical problem, a new type of numerical method, which combined finite difference method with boundary element method, was given. The new numerical method integrates the advantages of the two methods. The numerical results showed that computation efficiency was much higher than traditional single algorithm.
