Color wheel visualizations of 2D vector fields
Andreas Johannsen, David H. Huddleston · 1995
The color wheel visualization technique represents the direction and/or magnitude of vectors by color. This paper documents applications of the color wheel technique to two-dimensional flow fields around wing airfoil profiles; the results show that color wheels are valuable for gaining an understanding of overall flow behavior, and for identifying certain flow features, like vortices, stagnation points, and shock waves.
