Joan Joesting, Robert Joesting · Psychological Reports · 1974

Challenge Foundation1 The Quick Test (QT) Forms 1 and 4 were administered to 95 black students at a southeastern college. The purpose of the study was to determine if the race of people illustrated on an intelligence test would have any effect on the scores. Two sets of the QT Form 1 pictures were used. The first set was the standard one with line drawings showing black and illustrations of people as Caucasian, while the second set of pictures was shaded and inked so that the illustrations were of black people.-very ocher S was given the QT with either black or people. While S held the word card, the first author administered QT Forms 1 and 4, using standard instructions ( 1 ) . Using the t test, no statistically significant differences were found between scores of Ss who took QT Forms 1 and 4 with black illustrations or QT Forms 1 and 4 with standard white illustrations. Ss viewing the QT Forms 1 and 4 had a M IQ of 90.96 (SD = 7.17; N = 50) and those viewing the black QT illustrations had a M IQ of 93 (SD = 8.59; N = 45).
