The Legacy of the Software Production Facility Simulator for Shuttle Flight Software
William S. Davidson, William Ferry · 2006
The Software Production Facility (SPF) simulator has been used in developing, testing, and delivering Space Shuttle Flight Software (FSW) for about 30 years. The SPF is a collection of configuration management (CM), build, simulation, reconfiguration, and support tools. This paper details the design and operations of the simulation and support tools while demonstrating how some aspects of CM, build and reconfiguration play a major role in the flexibility and usability of the simulation and support tools.
