Dynamic visualization of PLEIADES trend analysis (MONROE)

Trend analysis of CNES Earth observation spacecraft is performed every month in order to help the flight control and spacecraft manufacturers’ maintenance teams perform health monitoring and foresee possible problems on board. These results are compiled in a unique document which is produced during the whole life span, usually over 10 years for this kind of spacecraft. It turns out that the wishes expressed by the experts are constantly evolving and the document production software needs to offer maximum flexibility in order to match operational requests very quickly. Otherwise the monthly report remains tragically frozen for many years... One underlying issue is of course to guarantee that the results which are displayed match the requirements. Another feedback from already existing spacecraft is that this kind of report is completely static: experts noticing something strange in a graph have no direct access to the displayed data. These limitations from the past were expressed in terms of possibilities for improvement and therefore became challenging new objectives for the Pleiades ground and flight control teams who decided to develop a document production software called MONROE (which stands for MONthly Report Operational Editor). This piece of software establishes a direct link between the monthly report requirement document and the monthly report itself, both using the Office Open XML format. This new concept is based on writing rules and naming conventions for the requirement document. The monthly report is delivered to the final users not only with the conventional Adobe Portable Document Format, but also with the HTML format which allows thanks to a JavaScript program a dynamic consultation of the graphs inside the monthly report using PrestoPlot® 2D plotter (already used on almost every spacecraft project in CNES for telemetry display).
