Color figure production and transmission techniques.

Toshio Hoshino · JAPAN TAPPI JOURNAL · 1986

This paper describes color graphic production and transmission techniques which can create electronically color graphics consisting of characters and other illustrations in a relatively short time. A run lenghth encoding technique is employed to minimize the processing time and the system cost. According to the techniques, a high-quality color graphic can be produced within about one tenth the time required to produce a similar color graphic using the conventional method. Furthermore, the storage reuquirement of this system is about one fifty-eighth the storage space required by the PCM encoding method.
