Contextual wearable interfaces

Naomi Newman · 2000

The authors believe that, as mobile computers become ubiquitous, it is essential that we move away from the kinds of user interface found on desktop systems. With Sulawesi, they have produced a software platform that allows multi-modal user interfaces to be explored while also facilitating novel, context-aware applications. The addition of simple sensors to the mobile computer greatly eases the task of contextualizing information, especially as, with Sulawesi, much of the contextual processing can be performed at the output stage. However, there remains much work to be done in producing a mature multi-model, context-aware user interface. (3 pages)
