Multiple Order Functions in Twelve-Tone Music (Part II)
Philip Norman Batstone · Perspectives of New Music · 1972
The cycle is complete. When p = 12, the expression is equivalent to 1,015, the first integer of the cycle. The cycle of integers is as follows: (1,015; 2,030; 4,060; 4,025; 3,955; 3,815; 3,535; 2,975; 1,855; 3,710; 3,325; 2,555). These integers are used as position numbers along a scale of 4,095 equidistant time-positions. Of these time-positions, only twelve will be used to represent, in its characteristic rhythm, the twelve-tone set involved.
