Trace interpolation and noise attenuation using space-scale decomposition

Khalil Kheir‐eddine Zegadi · 2012

In this paper we present a new trace interpolation and denoising method in the frequency-space (f-x) domain, based on à trous wavelet space-scale decomposition (ATWSD), and on empirical mode decomposition (EMD); to fill in the missing traces and to attenuate the random and the coherent noise. The filtered signal in the spatial direction is obtained as the noiseless scaling coefficients of the ATWSD, or as the noiseless residue of the EMD. The ATWSD-Filter and the EMD-filter are effective for data where coherent events can be aligned laterally as normal-moveout (NMO) corrected common-midpoint (CMP)) gathers. Both of the method, are successfully applied on the synthetic and real seismic data
