This paper is a practical guide to setting up an Internet connection that will permit the operation of software such as Netscape and other Windows socket programs which make the navigation of the Internet easier. This guide contains four sections: (1) an introduction to the nature of Windows Socket programs; (2) information about the kind of Internet services required to run this software, as well as descriptions of the hardware requirements and a list of the basic required programs necessary; (3) instructions for transferring files to e-mail accounts via ftp; and (4) installation instructions for the basic programs needed to access most information on the Internet.
