On the application of the diode to the measurement of the upper and lower critical voltages of discharge tubes under continuous "flashing" conditions
James Taylor, Leonard Alfred Sayce · Journal of Scientific Instruments · 1925
The first section of the paper deals with an extension of a ballistic galvanometer null method for the measurement of the extinction voltages for discharge tubes, given in a previous issue of this Journal. The method is improved and extended in application by the introduction of a thermionic valve rectifier in the ballistic galvanometer circuit. The second section describes the measurement of the upper and lower critical voltages (sparking and extinction voltages respectively) for discharge tubes under continuous flashing conditions. These measurements are effected by utilization of the principle of the thermionic valve peak voltmeter
