Software development process model for aerospace systems

The aim of this paper is to illustrate a two level process model of software development. The first level, the Macro-perspective level aims at synthesizing a model of the external factors that influence the development process. We acknowledge in our model the significance of these external factors in shaping the systems to be created, the philosophy in which it is created, and to a large extent the success of the system. The second level, the Micro-perspective level is concerned with the actual software creation process. The model utilizes four tenets to guide the software engineer: utilize a philosophy of continuousquality improvement, integrate formal methodsmetrics and quality variance together throughout the development process, utilize metrics to monitor and understand the process, and improve communications.
