The Automated Reagin Test: Results Compared with VDRL and FTA-ABS Tests

Automated reagin (AR) test findings compared favorably with VDRL and FTA-ABS results. The study of 4,441 specimens obtained for confirmatory tests showed a 98.4% agreement between AR and VDRL tests, and a 70% agreement between AR and FTA-ABS tests. The AR test provided some practical advantages not obtainable with manual technics.
