Evaluation of AES-Based Authentication and Encryption Schemes for Telecommand and Telemetry in Satellite Applications

This paper presents some numerical results related to the evaluation of authentication and encryption schemes when applied to space data, in conjunction with error correction strategies which are already defined by the standards and used. Addressing some of the solutions currently under evaluation by the Consultative Committe for Space Data Systems, we provide objective results to compare them, both in the case of Telecommand authentication and Telemetry encryption.
