This paper aims to present the optimal integration of PVs in the Smart Buildings of the partners of DERlab Association. More specifically, European Installation Bus (KNX/EIB) protocol is installed in a building in Athens which supervised by the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) in Greece and in the headquorters of Labein in Spain. Energy Savings of 55% for lighting and 35% for heating/cooling are achieved. On the other hand, IWES has developed a Bidirectional Energy Management Interface (BEMI), which offers Technical and Economical Integration of Distributed Energy Resources. The penetration of PVs in these smart buildings, using BEMI with KNX/EIB protocol is investigated. The efficiency of the PV systems is calculated. Furthermore, conclusions are used by TU Sofia for the implementation of these systems in a Smart Grid in Boulgaria. The optimal integration of PVs in the Smart Buildings is evaluated in the framework of the DERlab project.
