A Novel Approach for Detection and Location of Zebra Crossing

B. Anuradha, N. Ramesh Babu · International Conference on Advanced Computing · 2014

A safe walking is necessary on roads for the visually impaired. In this paper we propose a novel approach to detect and locate the zebra-crossings using Hough transform and directional variance techniques. The image taken is analyzed and the exact location, direction and object interference in zebra-crossing are obtained. The algorithm to serve the above purpose is as follows: First, edge and line are detected and segmented. Second distance is calculated. Third direction and difference in image is obtained. The algorithm is experimented with large number of real-time images and found feasible.
