Controlling JavaScript with Caja
Bruce Potter · Network Security · 2008
The landscape of network security continues to evolve. Not too long ago, firewalls and intrusion detection systems were shiny, new devices that we plugged into our network to protect our systems. Over the years, these protection mechanisms have become standard in almost every network, and their capability has increased as well. Many firewalls have migrated to the concept of unified threat management (UTM), which provides a full suite of security tools to run on one device. UTM firewalls can do deep packet inspection, can limit what URLs users can surf to, and even scan for viruses in email and webpages. IDSs have also advanced dramatically at the same time, and now detect more sophisticated attacks and malware than in the past.
