Bounds on the Average Interference Parameter of Binary Sequences in DS-CDMA Systems

Hans Dieter Schotten · International Symposium on Information Theory and its Applications · 1994

In direct-sequence code-division multiple-access (DS-CDMA) systems the binary data of every transmitter are multiplied with an unique code-sequence. The performance of these systems depends on the correlation properties of these sequences. For the evaluation of their correlation behaviour on the one hand peak correlation parameters describing the worst-case performance and on the other hand average interference parameters on which the signal-to-noise ratio depends are defined. In this contribution bounds on the average interference parameter are presented. From this, lower bounds on the disturbance power in DS-CDMA systems depending on the length of the code-sequences and the number of simultaneously active users can be derived. In the second part of this paper methods to improve the interference properties of code-sequences are described.
