Justice and Education for Home Security Professionals: Designing interdepartmental partnerships in graduate Homeland Security studies.
Frank Fuller · Society for Information Technology & Teacher Education International Conference · 2012
Increasingly, Homeland Security graduate education programs attract new and seasoned professional short from law enforcement, emergency management, and public administration areas. A significant role of the Homeland Security professional’s work is the design, planning, completion, and evaluation of training and simulation exercises: activities that are more familiar to education, particularly adult and technical education, than to law enforcement curricula. This presentation will review a partnership between Criminal Justice and Technology and Adult Education graduate programs that draws on the expertise of each discipline. The programs develop graduates who are sophisticated planners and evaluators of the ways responders, public managers, and citizens learn about the new realities of Homeland Security.
