WiiFitChair: A Chair-based Interface for Hands-free Remote Camera Control

Dingyun Zhu, T.D. Gedeon · International Conference on Intelligent Information Processing · 2011

In this paper we introduce WiiFitChair, a new chair interface developed based on the Nintendo Wii Fit Balance Board sensor. The WiiFitChair provides a weight-based interaction mode with the use of vision-based head tracking for hands-free remote camera control, which could be an effective solution for common multi-tasking situations in teleoperation. We report a user study comparing the WiiFitChair model, a foot-controlled model and a regular mouse model for a remote face-searching task. Encouraging feedback has been found in the comparison, also with points for further directions.
