Metamodel for simplifying requirement change propagation towards resilient software evolution

Wan Mohd Nasir Wan Kadir, Wan Nasir · 2008

Software evolution is unavoidable due to its dynamic nature driven by the business environment in software life cycle. Furthermore, rapid changing requirements facilitate enormous research opportunities into an area of software change management. A large portion of total software life cycle cost is devoted to introduce new requirements, by either removing or modifying the existing requirements. In this context, requirement change propagation (CP) process is one of the critical parts in the software change management. The research as presented in this paper has the potential to improve the change implementation phase particularly in propagating requirement changes. The ultimate aim of this paper is to provide a metamodel to simplify the rigorous process for requirement CP towards resilient the evolvable software systems. The principle aim of this metamodel is to define the model that will provide the syntax and semantics for specific volatile requirements. On the other hand, the metamodel also illustrates the structured model and specification for volatile requirements that exhibit the highly evolvable software systems.
