Programming today remains the fundamental challenge of Computer Science. But programming is still learned and understood through time-consuming means and in truly tedious ways. Creating an algorithm and producing from it a program that is useful and effective is often a difficult endeavor. This study was focused on the origination of a design framework for the construction of program composer. Through this framework, computer programs could be easily constructed and allow the automatic generation of visual representations for program elements and the automatic generation of the traditional, non-graphical program source code presented in the usual text format. The C program composers were built around the design framework with the programming language Java and Dreamweaver as the main tools of developing the prototype. Programs constructed through these graphical program composers could be used to facilitate instructional and learning exercises and activities. Thus, its use could easily help achieve deeper understanding among learners and convenience for instructors and trainers. The traditional tedious way of learning programming is more on the ability to memorize the syntax and structures of a particular programming language but this study promoted the learning of these things through code familiarization of what was visualized by the user. This was done through the graphical representation of the program elements as to compose one code element at a time being given was also indicated by the user and the data needed for the program construction. Systems of this kind of program composer harness the teaching and learning process of a typical student line to study programming. The system design framework developed in this study had an effective means of creating a system that would provide enhancement of program construction to any programming language.
