Resolving Software Compatibility Issues

Mike Halsey, Andrew Bettany · Apress eBooks · 2015

Whenever there is a new version of Windows launched, there are typically some issues that relate to ensuring backward compatibility. Most software is supported by the independent software vendor (ISV) for the specified lifespan of the software, which could also be aligned to one or more host operating system platforms. For example, Office 2003 was released by Microsoft in October 2003; it was compatible with Windows 2000 and supported on Windows XP and later. Mainstream support for Office 2003 ended on April 14, 2009, and extended support was terminated on April 8, 2014. These keywords were added by machine and not by the authors. This process is experimental and the keywords may be updated as the learning algorithm improves.
