This paper proposes an experimental protocol that aims to evaluate in a strictly comparable context tactile and tangible modalities for a virtual environment exploration on tablet. We propose four modalities: tactile interaction with sticks, classic tactile interaction, tangible interaction with a 1:2.5 scale factor and tangible interaction with a 1:5 scale factor. We hypothesize that the tangible interactions will provide users a better spatial representation of the virtual environment, with however, a difference depending on the scale factor. Moreover we interest on the subjective evaluation (usability and acceptability) of these modalities.
