Teach with Alice - and have fun!: pre-conference workshop
Phyllis Tedford · Journal of computing sciences in colleges · 2008
Alice is an innovative 3-D programming environment used to create animated movies and interactive games or programs. It has been used successfully in over 200 colleges and universities around the country as a tool to teach introductory programming in an environment that is more engaging and less frustrating than traditional introductory courses. Studies have shown that using Alice can improve students' attitudes towards computer science and increase the retention rate and performance of students in computer science programs. This workshop introduces the Alice environment through creating several simple worlds. It also presents information related to the pedagogical aspects of using Alice in the classroom. No prior programming experience is required.
