Microprocessors: A New Zealand application

It is less than 30 years since the birth of the transistor and the first stored program computer; yet, these two developments combined in 1971 to form a new device, the microprocessor. A microprocessor can be defined as a very small and inexpensive sequential processor - a device which seeks from associated memory, a series of instructions which it then executes. These devices act as controllers in an increasingly diverse range of products.
