Matrix WA + AtW and its applications

For matrix A, with off–diagonal elements not necessarily of the same sign, conditions are obtained for the existence of a positive definite diagonal matrix W, such that matrix WA + AtW is positive definite; and the applications of the latter to the determination of the stability of interval matrices are considered.
