JHigraph is a Java library for creating visualizations of graphs, trees, and higraphs. This paper surveys three applications of JHigraph. (0) Programmer defined visualizations (PDV) for the Teaching Machine allow code written in C and Java to be annotated with calls to the Teaching Machine that set up visualizations of the data state of a program. (1) The Visreed editor provides editing of extended BNF grammars, in which each grammar rule is visualized as a railroad diagram. (2) The PLAY programming language is an object-oriented, visual programming language, in which programs are edited by direct manipulation of the abstract syntax tree.
