Generalization of the McClellan transformations for multidimensional FIR digital filters with complex coefficients

The McClellan transformations are generalized in order to design the multidimensional (N-D) FIR digital filters with complex coefficients. First, N-D analytic signals, which are used in actual signal processing, are introduced. Next, the N-D complex coefficient McClellan transformations and the design procedures of hyperspherically symmetric filter and 3-D fan filter are presented. For the hypercubically symmetric characteristics, the specifications of the N-D complex filters have only to be satisfied in 0 less or equal w; less or equal n (i=1, 2, ..., N) of N-D frequency space. As a result, the degree of freedom in the filter design increases and in general, the good magnitude characteristics can be obtained by low-order transfer functions. Finally, examples are presented.
