Fuzzy Logic Based Diagnosis in Pathology
Fazel Naghdy, Melanie Legg, Jabonette · 1995
Biomedical tests in pathology involve measurements of quantitative nature. These results have to be analysed and compared with the patient's previous records and medical history to achieve better diagnosis. Current methods in such diagnostic process often relies on the pathologist's expertise, judgment and experience. However, due to the numerical nature of the results and numerous number of possibilities involved, the expert is often overwhelmed with unimportant information. The possibility of a system which can simulate expert-like judgment, decision-making and interpretation of pathological data is explored in this work. The emphasis is on lipid test data. The modelling of the data and development of the decision making system are carried out based on Fuzzy Logic Control method. The results obtained and progress made so far are reported.
