Using icon language in multimedia indexing and search/retrieval

In this thesis, many issues related to the query language for multimedia indexing and retrieval were studied. In particular, an icon language was proposed to denote the multimedia index terms or icons of multimedia documents, providing the notion for spatial, temporal and conceptual relationships among different media icons.
