Theoretical and Experimental Investigation of Multi-microprocessor Systems

The requirements of a dedicated multi-microprocessor intended for control applications are discussed. Possible hardware configurations are considered and reasons given for the choice of a common memory multiprocessor over a loosely coupled multiprocessor. Relevant concepts necessary for hardware and software implementation of a common memory multiprocessor system for dedicated use are developed. A description of a realization of a common memory multiprocessor system, carried out by the present authors, using INTEL 8085 microprocessors is also given.
