Modelling Approach for Mobile and Immobile Transport Problems with Multiple Time-Scales
Jürgen Geiser · IFAC-PapersOnLine · 2015
The subject of this paper is a modeling approach to mobile and immobile transport problems, solving them by iterative splitting methods. We apply a modelling approach after Coats et al. (1964), which allows treating mobile and immobile fluids in a porous medium. The reaction scales between the mobile and immobile fluid are very small, so that we have a multiscale problem. To solve the problem, we employ the method of multiple-time scales, which can be considered as an iterative splitting approach, see Geiser (2011). We discuss the splitting approach and present some first results for a mobile-immobile transport-reaction problem.
