Applying the integral equations method to the problem of synthesizing vowels of the Russian language

An integral equations method for solving an inner Helmholtz problem with boundary conditions of third kind (impedance type) is described. The final solution is used to describe wave processes in the system of the human vocal tract at the moment of pronouncing vowel sounds. The signal in the time domain is synthesized using the source–filter model. The action of vocal cords as source of acoustic excitation is described by the Lilienkrantz–Fant model. The filter is represented by a spectral transfer function formed on the basis of the integral equation solution. Audio tests confirm the high reliability of synthesized vowels ([a:], [u:], [i:]), compared to synthesis using other models of acoustic speech production.
