In wireless sensor networks, due to energy of sensor nodes loss and the unknown geographic area and other factors will lead to the generation of the void regions which cannot be detected. When data packet based on Geography location information routing protocol confronts void regions, the problems of blind detour and triangular detour will come up. This paper analyzes the characteristics of protocol named clockwise grid routing protocol (CGRP) based on Geography location routing. Although CGRP uses clockwise boundary grid forwarding strategy when encounter routing void regions can solve detour problems sometimes, the success rate is not high. Targeting the inadequacy of CGRP, An improved strategy is proposed to solve these problems, reduce the unnecessary routing hops and node energy consumption and improve the quality of the network transmission. Finally, CGRP is used on the NS-2. Experiment and results show that the improved protocol to solve the detour problem is reliable and effective.
