Low-cost compute clusters in virtualized lab environments

In this paper we demonstrate and evaluate a method of creating a small compute cluster within a virtualized lab environment. Our goal is to create an easily managed, highly adaptable lab environment that simultaneously supports an undergraduate computer lab and a low-cost research compute cluster. The overall result is a demonstrated compute cluster benchmarked at 60 Gflops with a classroom lab of near-native performance Windows XP workstations.
