Sound and Exploratory Data Analysis

Susan R. Wilson · 1982

SummaryMost techniques used in the exploratory analysis of data rely on visual representations. It is well known that such representations have certain limitations and also can be misleading. A new and novel technique which overcomes some of the limitations of visual methods is proposed for the exploratory analysis of data. This technique gives an auditory representation of the data. An example of the use of the technique for multivariate data analysis will be given.
