The coupling metric validated in this paper identifies Hidden coupling that is used to reduce the redundant code, and to measure the reliability of a program. Redundant code may prove to be a source of error and reduction of reliability, other than the overhead of maintaining and storing extra lines of code. The metric was applied on projects developed in .NET platform. It was found that on removing redundant code about 10–14% reduction of lines of code was achieved. Moreover, projects with redundant code were found to be prone to error.
