Performance Enhancement: An Advanced High-Performance Large-Scale Video Surveillance System — The Video Surveillance Local Control

This work presents the closure of a PhD thesis on high-performance video surveillance at the University of Oulu, Finland. The complete process of video surveillance and every single component is analyzed, introducing a blue print for the future video surveillance systems. The focus of this paper will be put on one key element: A novel user-interface device, the Advanced Video Surveillance Local Control — AVSLC: Access, control of large-scale video surveillance systems. Implementation and execution of the Security Management Process drastically improve information access and reaction speed in critical situations in the field. All innovations presented were validated in real-world case studies.
