A Language For Modelling Quality Processes

Software quality management is shifting its emphasis from quality systems to quality processes. Ironically, this has resulted from the success of systembased initiatives such as Tick-IT, which emphasise the documentation and control of quality systems in software engineering. However, such approaches do not address the need to improve software quality, once the quality system is established. To provide a basis for quality improvement, there is much work at present on understanding the processes of software development. Unfortunately, most of this has been a compilation of existing work, following a wide range of approaches, and without a standardised methodology for analysing and describing the processes which effect quality.
