This paper discusses an intelligent highway information and control system in the Rhein-Main area of Germany. It presents information on the Knowledge-based and Intelligent SOCRATES Data Support System (KIDS), the Knowledge-based and Intelligent Traffic Data Support Shell (KID-Shell), concrete tools for the SOCRATES data support system, the integration of floating-car data, and the use of traffic data by SOCRATES.
