Topological segmentation of three-dimensional vector fields
Kenneth I. Joy, Karim Magdi Mahrous · 2006
Novel algorithms are presented which are designed to discover the topological structure of flow fields. First, a new algorithm for the calculation of streamsurfaces for tetrahedral grids is presented. Second, a new method for topological segmentation in steady three-dimensional vector fields is introduced. The concept of a segmented dataset is presented, along with methods to convert a flow field into its segmented dataset representation. Finally, three methods are presented to enhance the conversion of the flow field into a segmented dataset.
